Back in 2014, Skoda presented its new design guidelines through VisionC study. Those guidelines now entered into the crossover segment. The Skoda VisionS study (“S” stands for an SUV) reveals, how could the appearance of upcoming utility vehicle look like. If we estimate only by the appearance, we believe that the new SUV will greatly contribute to the next Skoda sales milestone.
Skoda VisionS concept ranks one class higher than their successful compact SUV Yeti. With a length of 4.70 m, a width of 1.91 m and a height of 1.68 m, this SUV spontaneously attracts attention on the road. And the interior relies on an enviable spaciousness (which somehow became Skoda’s trademark, just remember what we wrote about the latest 2016 Superb Combi).
Skoda VisionS has three rows of seats and provides space for six passengers. Skoda will present a concept car VisionS at the Geneva Motor Show, held in March 2016.
External design of Skoda VisionS
The newest Skoda SUV study clearly shows that the brand is now giving stronger emphasis on emotional sides of their vehicles. All the edges and all the lines are clear, precise and sharp. Typical crystalline design elements give a unique mark on the outside of the vehicle. The play of light and shadow creates striking effects on the distinctively shaped surface.
Bonnet is highly plastic-shaped, its lines are flowing into the brand logo. The wide radiator grille and four wedge-shaped, high-mounted headlamps with light-emitting diodes are an inherent specificity of the front part and clearly show that the study definitely belongs among SUV vehicle class. Headlamps, logo and vertical bars are all characterized by crystalline elements, with which Škoda designers give tribute to Czech glass art.
Skoda VisionS study mirrors robust SUV character from the side point of view. Sharply delineated tornado line stretches along the mighty bodywork. Roofline starts an early decline and flows into a long spoiler and compact rear, which even at a standstill creates the impression of movement.
The rear part of the Skoda VisionS is like a sculpture. Powerful diffuser includes a large exhaust pipe and visually illustrates how sovereign position this crossover has on the road. Placed under the low rear window is Skoda logo and narrow rear lights with dynamically-shaped crystalline body.
Will Skoda’s new SUV get the name Kodiak?
According to yet unofficial information Skoda’s new SUV will get the name Kodiak. It could be seen this autumn at the Paris Motor Show. Both versions of Kodiak, seven-seater will be followed by a five-seater, will be placed on the Volkswagen MQB platform.
Update: Skoda Kodiaq revealed! We were right about the name!
The new Skoda SUV is expected to use the already known four-cylinder engines from Superb. Customers will also be able to get a diesel-electric hybrid version. All-wheel drive will be available with most versions.
