Renault Talisman Grandtour wants all customers of the former Laguna Grandtour, despite the fact that Renault persistently claims that the Talisman is in no way its successor, because it is a completely new car. This newcomer in the middle class segment has now become Renault’s biggest station wagon with a 572-liter of basic luggage compartment. Meet the one step larger version of Megane Grandtour.
Since Renault is the third most successful car maker in Europe, also thanks to the long tradition of the Laguna, Talisman Grandtour certainly has the pool of potential customers. Most of these buyers will not strictly and directly compare the new Talisman Grandtour to the Volkswagen Passat or the Škoda Superb, but will primarily be happy with the progress of the car and the fact that the Talisman will retain its direction and specifics compared to its rivals, such as four-wheel steering 4control.
Renault Talisman Grandtour is two centimeters longer than the Sedan, almost 1,700 liters of space at the back
According to the external dimensions, Renault Talisman Grandtour practically does not differ from the Sedan version. Due to the newly designed rear end station wagon gained a 1.7 centimeters increment in total length. When comparing both both body types it is interesting that sedan has 33 liters larger basic luggage compartment than Grandtour.
But of course, the Grandtour trunk with a 572-liter cargo space is more accessible, usable and with the possibility of increasing to almost 1.7 cubic meters (1,681 liters). With a folded rear seat bench, which can be separated in a ratio of one third or two-thirds, we get a flat surface with a length of more than two meters, measured from the back of the first seat, which increases the practicality of Renault Talisman Grandtour.
The tailgate opens by moving the foot under the rear bumper.
Multi-Sense and 4Control
The Multi-Sense system allows you to choose between five driving modes: Comfort, Sport, Eco, Neutral and Perso. To facilitate switching between modes, Renault Talisman Grandtour has the option to choose two favorite modes and switching between them with the touch of a shortcut button.
4Control chassis with 4-wheel steering allows the rear wheels of the Renault Talisman Grandtour to rotate to an angle of 3.5 degrees. It assures the optimal maneuverability, responsiveness and stability of the car under all circumstances, and much more intense sensation of driving.
The interior got a lot of designers and technological attention
The passenger compartment with luxurious central console and a large 8.7-inch (22 cm) tablet screen R-LINK 2 with an Internet connection represents the world of technology and comfort. The spacious interior of Renault Talisman Grandtour allows unmatched freedom of movement. The most notable is a wide central console, “Business Class” seats and the height of the passenger compartment. A lot of comfort is dedicated to the rear seat passengers, which have a lot of legroom and 3 centimeters more space above their heads.
Two petrol and five diesel engines for Renault Talisman Grandtour
The selection of engines does not deviate from the ones already known from the four-door version. I just drove one of these over 2,000 kilometers while on vacation in Switzerland and Italy (Hertz rental car). It very comfortably seated 5 passengers and all our luggage. It handled quite well on both the highways and city roads. Our car had the navigation system (which was awesome, never missed a beat), and what I would assume were most of the other available electronic goodies. The diesel got what I estimate to be about 40 mpg on average. Just a great wagon all around; really enjoyed driving it.
