Who is Faraday Future, which will build a factory near Las Vegas and already employs more than 500 engineers?

Faraday Future is a mysterious US startup company that is barely 18 months old. It was founded by Chinese internet billionaire Jia Yueting. With ambitious forecasts on the development and production of electric high-performance cars they have already began to receive a lot of automotive enthusiasts attention. Faraday nevertheless announced the construction of a new factory near Las Vegas, which would cost one billion US dollars. The start of the production in planned for 2017.

Nevada State has already committed Faraday 335 million US dollars in tax relief. The factory is expected to return the favour with 85 billion dollars in revenue and provide Nevada 760 million dollars in taxes. The factory will employ 4,500 workers with an average salary of 22 dollars per hour.

So far the company’s management employed more than 500 engineers and specialists. They acquired the team from manufacturers such as Tesla Motors, BMW, Audi, General Motors, Boeing, Space X, Google and Samsung. The founder of Faraday even predicted a direct struggle with Tesla and Elon Musk.

The business plan provides car rental and not only classical ownership

Faraday’s chief engineer Nick Sampson, a former engineer of Tesla Motors and Lotus, predicts modular and therefore easy to build cars. According to Sampson Faraday will be able to relatively quickly produce new models. As far as sales are concerned, they are betting more on car rental option than classic ownership.

“Our lifestyle is becoming very digital and connected, and the car industry isn’t responding to those needs quick enough. High quality global journalism requires investment. We are focused on doing one vehicle but the strategy is such that we know we can follow that up in the future very quickly and efficiently with other products, rather than having to wait another five years for the next one to come out”, said Mr. Sampson.

FFZERO1 is the vision of electric, connected and self-driving car of the future

Faraday Future presented its first study at the CES 2016 in Las Vegas. A futuristic vehicle FFZERO1 is powered by four electric motors with a total output of thousands of “horse powers. Part of the steering wheel is also a smartphone. The study highlights the completely automatic driving and communication of the car in traffic. FFZERO1 is more of an example of futuristic vision of society on future driving experience and is not intended for huge mass production. Because of the constant connection to the Internet, the study is also an example of how car sharing will look like in the future.
