Audi has already started discussions with the partners in Iran. This German premium cars brand from Ingolstadt sees a potentially very interesting “luxury car” market in Iran.
Iran automotive potential 10 billion euros?
The release of international sanctions against Iran opens up a significant new car market. Manufacturers are eagerly awaiting the new hot market, especially because the Chinese market cools down and because of political problems in Russia.
Audi’s first-ever official appearance
Audi showed interest in the Iranian market, which would be their first official offer of their cars in history because Audi has never before done any business in Islamic Republic of Iran. In 1979, at the beginning of international trade sanctions, Audi was not ranked among the world’s premium car producers and was nor represented in this part of our planet. Audi’s representatives have already visited Iran, where they started conversations with potential importers and dealers. One of the reasons is probably the fact, that Germany’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry estimates the market size potential to a staggering 10 billion euros or 10.9 billion USD.
Daimler already signed
Daimler has already signed a contract for the establishment of two German-Iranian joint truck companies and is also prepared for entry into Iran. Their department responsible for trucks production has signed a contract with the companies Iran Khodro Diesel and Mammut Group.
BMW without plans … for now
BMW do not have any concrete plans on selling in Iran. Their decision will depend on the political and economic situation in this country.
