The only available Aston Martin DB10, the brightest automobile star of the latest film about a secret agent James Bond, will be sold at the auction in the UK. Price may exceed two million.
Aston Martin will sell only one DB10
Aston Martin has produced exactly ten examples of DB10 model, which was designed exclusively for shooting a new film about the British secret agent James Bond. Eight cars were used while filming Spectre, and one of the two demonstration cars will be sold at auction on February 18th. Aston Martin ensures that this will be the only DB10, which will be sold. And such a promise, of course, adds to its exclusivity.
Buyers at the auction in Great Britain will have to pay at least 1.3 million euros. But that is only a starting bid. According to the organizers estimates the DB10 could be sold for up to two million euros.
The car is powered by 4.7-liter V8 engine with 420 horsepower, which enables speeds of over 300 kilometers per hour. Additional charm of the car is also the signature of Daniel Craig, the main actor in the last four films about James Bond.
Aston Martin DB10 had to be produced in half a year
Although the Aston Martin contributed the leading car for a secret agent film only six times so far, their cars became almost inseparable with Bond. Initially the much larger study model DB11 (which will be a next year successor to DB9 model) was intended for the Bond role. But when the Spectre director Sam Mendes visited the Aston Martin’s Gaydon headquarters in Warwickshire, England back in 2013, he has noticed some sketches of a much more attractive car. The decision was made and the British had only half a year to produce the first Aston Martin DB10.
Compared to Vantage the Aston Martin DB10 is wider, stands closer to the road and also has seven centimeters longer wheelbase.
Eight DB10’s with a clearly defined role
Exactly eight DB10 with precisely defined roles have been prepared for recording action shots in Rome.
Two cars were intended for close up shots, two were equipped with the safety cage, sport seats, special shock absorbers and reinforcements and devoted to scenes with attractive sliding through the streets of Rome. The next pair of DB10’s was equipped with special flame throwers and the last two were prepared to shoot conversations scenes in the car.
Drifting scenes and night rampage were shot in 18 nights in Rome. The main role was played by stunt driver Mark Higgins. The well-known British rally driver also participated in the previous Bond film, where he even had to dress up as a woman. For the purpose of a more controlled drifting and long sliding Michelin delivered the tires with a much harder rubber mixture which offer less grip, but so much more attractive drifting.
