British luxury car maker Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team have joined forces and presented hyper car labeled AM-RB 001. Reportedly the car is so fast that it can leave behind even the Formula 1 race car!
Red Bull probably won’t give wings to the vehicle. But with atmospheric 1000 hp V12 engine, an Aston Martin contribution to the project, this will be very close. AM-RB 001 will certainly be able to fly down the road or race track!
Crazy price, very limited production
Aston Martin and Formula 1 Red Bull Racing team presented two seater hypercar AM-RB 001, which will cost four million euros! As revealed at the presentation in Gaydon plant in England (also the production plant) by Aston Martin boss Andy Palmer, they plan to produce between 99 and 150 vehicles, suitable for driving on the roads.
25 extra units will be reserved for the racetrack only. Finally, AM-RB 001 boasts with the driving characteristics of the best racing cars at Le Mans, as said by Adrian Newey, the chief of engineers and design at Red Bull F1.
Power to weight ratio 1:1!
Because they wanted to maintain a lower weight (less than 1,000 kilograms), in contrast to Ferrari and McLaren this hypercar is not equipped with a hybrid system. So it is bathed in carbon fiber and other lightweight materials.
Driven by the Aston Martin’s atmospheric V12, which has a total power of 1000 HP (773 kW), the ratio between weight and total HP is expected to be 1: 1 (as in Koenigsegg One:1). What about acceleration? From 0 to 100 km/h, AM-RB 001 will be fired in less than two seconds.
AM-RB 001 top speed: still a mystery and not a main objective
And the top speed? Well, the developers answered this question with a very diplomatic counter question about which car is fastest? The one at the straight endless road or the one on the racetrack? It looks like they are obviously aiming at the second option and promise to be unbeatable at achieving record lap times on many race tracks.
It will be necessary to wait until 2018, when first deliveries are promised to reach the lucky customers. Only to see if their predictions will come true.
