Even before the official disclosure, a set of official photos of the new 2017 Volvo V90 station wagon, which comes on the road in the second half of this year, “escaped” on social networks. The new V90 model replaces the old V70, which has been in production since 1996.
The most recognizable and distinctive are taillights
2017 Volvo V90 station wagon has not been officially introduced yet, but official photos of the car are already circulating on social networks. V90 is an estate version of the recently presented model S90. Judging by the photographs the shape of the new Volvo V90 extensively summarizes Volvo Estate Concept study, shown at the Geneva Motor Show two years ago. This is especially true for the distinctive taillights, while the front part is very similar to the S90. Understandable.
2017 Volvo V90 engines
The new 2017 Volvo V90 is built on the SPA platform, and will probably share the engines with the XC90 SUV.
Like in S90 (the limousine version of the 90-series), the 6- and 5-cylinder engines are a thing of the past. Only four-cylinder engines will be offered. Looks like Volvo took engine downsizing very seriously.
So, we are left with turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder in a V90 T6 model and turbocharged 2.0-liter combined with an electric drive system in a T8. Outputs should range from 240 to 410 horsepower.
Volvo V90, that will be a competitor of Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6, Jaguar XF and BMW 5 Series Touring, will be officially presented at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Sales are expected to begin in the second half of the year.
V90 competitors
As mentioned above, the main 2017 Volvo V90 rivals are going to be Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5-Series Touring and Audi A6 Avant from Germany, Jaguar XF Sportbrake from UK and Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon from the United States.
