Recently launched BMW M2 Competition added some more juice to this small but high-performance German coupe. We took some technical specifications of the BMW M2 Competition vs BMW M2 and put them side-by-side. If you are interested in the result, you are more than welcome to read this article.
Exterior dimensions: M2 Competition vs M2

Compared to M2, BMW M2 Competition is not much different in terms of exterior dimensions. They share almost the same length (M2 is 7 mm longer), they are both 1,854 meters wide and 1,41 m high. BMW did not change the base of the car so their wheelbase is also the same, and stands at 2,693 meters.
The suspension on M2 competition is set a bit lower, with a ground clearance of 118 mm is 4 mm closer to the ground compared to “ordinary” M2.

Since we are talking about almost the same car, we did not expect interior dimensions to be different. And they are not. A bit different, sportier design of the front seats is in place though, because they simply can not be the same. M2 Competition buyers deserve a something better, don’t they?

When changing M2 into M2 Competition, BMW designers didn’t touch the luggage compartment area. Why would they? The luggage volume of both cars measures 390 liters (VDA) or 10 cu.ft. of cargo volume (EPA standards).
But they put a lot of attention into weight reduction and managed to shave off 55 kilograms of weight. Well, this is a praiseworthy achievement, which in any case contributes to a better driving performance.

With 410 HP, BMW M2 Competition is 40 HP more powerful than the “normal” M2. Maximum torque has been raised for 85 Nm, from 465 Nm to 550 Nm.
Top speed is in both cars basically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph), but both versions offer a special DCT package. That means that with this package M2 can reach 270 km/h (168 mph) while the M2 Competition is even 10 km/h faster and can go to 280 km/h (174 mph).
Both cars accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just above 4 seconds, M2 in 4,3 seconds and M2 Competition in 4,2 seconds.
Fuel economy

According to ECE fuel economy measurement, M2 has a better fuel economy. BMW M2 Competition needs 1,1 liters of fuel more for every 100 km. But with overall 9 liters this number is still acceptable, don’t you think? Although the test circuit conditions cannot reflect the real-time possibilities and driving pleasure these two German performance coupes are able to offer.
If you take advantage of this, we believe you will not be able to reach the above figures, but the smile on your face is probably worth a lot more than a few liters of gasoline. If not, we suggest you skip these two and go for i3.

Last but not least, the price comparison. We would expect it to be a bit bigger but are definitely not complaining. The price increase in Germany is a bit more than 2.000 euros. The difference in the USA and UK is a bit bigger, but we are sure it is worth every penny or cent.
