Electric cars. Colonies on Mars. Solar panels on the roof. It is difficult to say that Elon Musk is lacking of ideas. Moreover, now he thinks about another major project. He plans to digg a hole under LA and build a Los Angeles tunnel. Very soon.
Exciting progress on the tunnel front. Plan to start digging in a month or so.

Some time ago he already explained his vision of urban transport. His idea is to redirect some of the traffic into tunnels, therefore removing at least some vehicles from the streets in city centres.
The plan of digging the Los Angeles tunnel were first released to public in December. “Traffic is driving me nuts. Am going to build a tunnel boring machine and just start digging,” he tweeted. And while spending time in traffic jam, he also came out with the name of the company: “it shall be called ‘The Boring Company.'”

The Los Angeles tunnel built in multiple levels
Musk foresees the construction of the Los Angeles tunnel in different levels in order to provide increased throughput and furthermore relieve the surface from vehicles. A good example of such a successful project is a tunnel under Boston, which has proven to be quite expensive, but in the end an effective investment.
Los Angeles tunnel entrance? SpaceX HQ
One of the Elon Musk Twitter followers asked where the tunnel will be. The answer from Elon is somehow funny but straightforward: “Starting across from my desk at SpaceX.”
@_wsimson Starting across from my desk at SpaceX. Crenshaw and the 105 Freeway, which is 5 mins from LAX

Of course this kind of project takes time to become a reality. Must not forget the countless bureaucratic obstacles.
But the truth is, we believe him 100 percent. If he was able to turn the whole automotive industry around and built a spaceship, why should digging holes in the ground represent a problem.
