A month before the official presentation at the Paris Motor Show, the pictures of new, fourth-generation model Kia Rio are revealed. Rio will be displayed on September 29th at the Paris Motor Show. The new Kia Rio shows a confident appearance in the early photos, with completely newly designed exterior and interior. Rio is Kia’s second smallest model and is aiming to compete against rivals such as Renault Clio, Opel Corsa and many others. Entering the fourth generation, 2017 Rio provides the increment in size, the latest technology and recognizable in-house shape.
Design ideas for the new Kia Rio from three different continents
In designing the renewed model, the most credits goes to Kia’s design centers in Germany and California, in close cooperation with the Korean design center, based in Namyang. 2017 Kia Rio is characterized by straight lines and smooth surfaces, which gives the vehicle a recognizable and convincing appearance.
2017 Kia Rio is longer and wider
The new Kia Rio measures 4,065 mm in length (15 mm longer than the previous generation), with a height of 1,450 mm is 5 mm lower and also much wider (1,724 mm) than the predecessor. It represents a new mask in the form of ‘tiger nose’, which is now thinner and wider. Integrated headlights – narrower than its predecessor – now get new LED lights in the shape of the letter U. Also new are the rear light, which are narrower, with LED technology and in the shape of an arrow.
Interior by modern standards
The modern interior design is more than ever ergonomically designed. The instrument panel is dominated by straight lines, giving the impression of width and increases the feeling of spaciousness. Inspired by Niro? The instrument panel is slightly oriented towards the driver. At the center there is a new infotainment system with ‘floating’ interface HMI (human-machine interface) with high resolution touch screen. New HMI interface now has much less buttons on the center console.
The new Rio will be available with a black or gray seat trim, or black or gray artificial leather. Furthermore, a red-black leather upholstery combination is available. A nice combination of shiny black interior with metallic accessories is responsible for a more modern look.
2017 Kia Rio to follow the predecessor’s success?
Additional emphasis Rio gives to practicality and security, with latest connectivity features. With more than 473,000 units sold worldwide, Rio is Kia’s best selling model in 2015. The start of production of the new 2017 Kia Rio is expected by the end of 2016. Presumably, Kia Rio is expected to appear in the showrooms in the first months of 2017 (in Europe).
