Many automobile manufacturers get inspiration in cars of other brands. Because of that, some of the details of cars of different brands are alike. Look at the motor mask of Aston Martin’s cars and Ford Mondeo, for example. There are yet more examples when it comes to a clean copy, so some car manufacturers take legal action.

The most recent example is a company Jaguar Land Rover, which brought legal action against the Chinese carmaker for copying their popular SUV model Range Rover Evoque.

It is strongly noticeable at a first glance, that in the case of the Landwind X7 of the Chinese manufacturer Jiangling Motor, that plagiarism is involved. Similarities can be found on the hood, logos, headlights, side air slots, rear bumper… Chinese car look as though it is produced on the same production line as the Evoque.

A successful action would encourage the other

Representative for public relations at Jaguar Land Rover told Reuters that the action is brought to the court in Beijing, China. They are accusing them of copying and unfair competition. This Jaguar Land Rover lawsuit is somehow very important. If they win, the Chinese copycats will be probably attacked from many other car manufacturers, such as Ford, Volkswagen, Cadillac, BMW / Mini and others.

Some have already achieved a ban on the sale of Chinese cars in Europe, but not in the domestic China market. For example, years ago Shuanghuan presented a model called CEO, which was remarkably similar to the BMW X5. Bavarians did not miss that, so they decided to file a lawsuit. Result: the Chinese copies are not allowed to sell in Germany.
