The business sedan market has a limited customer base. And these buyers have rational desires. Therefore, Japanese engineers somehow chose a middle path while renovating the 2016 Toyota Avensis. Customers are offered fairly refreshed, not completely new, and above all, accessible car. Toyota Avensis primarily still means a reasonable purchase after the renovation.
At the same time it is driven by modern and efficient engines, with a focus on two diesel options. The safety equipment is good, even in basic entry models. The new Toyota Avensis has a few more external centimeters as the predecessor. Sedan measures 4.75 meters in length, caravan touring sports is even longer, 4.82 meters.
2016 Toyota Avensis: a thorough renovation, not a new generation
As far as the external shape is concerned, the basic features remain almost the same. V-shaped nose and the sidelines, gradually climbing towards the cut off rear end. Some of the details are new. Grille with a narrow chrome strip that runs down the middle, triangular headlights, which are semi or full LED in better equipment packages. The addition which is made in the spirit of time and current automotive trend. The rear end is also new and more modern, a thorough renovation leaves the impression of a new generation, though it actually is not.
Refreshed interior with no obvious defects
Inside the cabin the story is similar. The dashboard is richer by the look and feel, with soft plastics and silver or bronze brown strips around the center console and on the door.
New are the seats, which invite its passengers with rich upholstery, long seatings and comfort, which is close to the “armchair” in the Volvo. In the spirit of the time the Avensis got a 4.2-inch screen between gauges, that displays trip computer information, security systems, etc. Another touch screen, located at the top of the center console, measures 8 inches in diameter. It is transparent and simple enough to use. The rear bench is spacious in all directions, the rear seats and the trunk are quite solid. The basic capacity of the luggage compartment in renewed Toyota Avensis Sedan measures 509 liters while the one in Touring Sports can swallow 543 liters of baggage, with folded rear seats up to 1,630 liters.
Thorough intervention in the mechanics and details have raised the Toyota Avensis characteristics to quite a high level, it has become comfortable, quiet and economical. A car, perfectly suited to long distance runners who are looking for reliability, not fun behind the wheel. Every 2016 Toyota Avensis is equipped with hill hold function, the expected safety and security assistance set called Toyota Safety Sense.
