BMW X7 is 5151 mm / 202,8 inches long, 2000 mm / 78,7 inches wide, 1805 mm / 71,1 inches high, and has 3105 mm / 122,2 inches long wheelbase. Its ground clearance is 221 mm / 8,7 inches.

That means that BMW X6 is 216 mm shorter, 4 wider, 109 mm lower, with 130 mm shorter wheelbase, and has 5 mm less ground clearance compared to BMW X7.

Luggage compartment

BMW X6 has 580 liters of luggage volume (VDA, seats up). With rear seats folded down, the cargo capacity extends to 1530 liters.

On the other hand, BMW X7 has 750 liters of luggage volume (VDA, seats up). With rear seats folded down, the cargo capacity extends to 2120 liters.

Therefore, BMW X6 has 170 liters less volume when seats are up, and 590 less volume when the rear seats are folded down.

BMW X6 vs BMW X7 engines

The engine power of BMW X6 ranges from 265 HP / 195 kW to 625 HP / 460 kW. The maximum torque is available from 450 Nm / 332 lb.ft. to 760 Nm / 561 lb.ft.

BMW X7 engines are available from 265 HP / 195 kW to 530 HP / 390 kW. Depending on the engine, the maximum torque is available from 450 Nm / 332 lb.ft. to 760 Nm / 561 lb.ft.

At first, there was also a “real” M version planned for BMW X7, but for now, those plans are put on the side. Therefore, the X6 offers much more powerful top of the range engine option.

Performance

The slowest BMW X6 has a top speed of 230 km/h / 143 mph, while the fastest version can go up to 290 km/h / 180 mph (BMW X6 M Competition).

The slowest BMW X7 reaches the maximum speed of 227 km/h / 141 mph, and the fastest option available goes to 250 km/h / 155 mph.

BMW X6 accelerates from 0-100 kilometers per hour (0-62 miles per hour) between 6,5 (slowest version) and 3,8 seconds (quickest version, BMW X6 M Competition).

The technical specification for BMW X7 shows that this car model accelerates from 0-100 kilometers per hour (0-62 miles per hour) between 7 (slowest version) and 4,7 seconds (BMW X7 M50i).

The entry models offer similar performance in terms of top speed and acceleration, the real difference shows when it comes to the most powerful engines. Here, X6 with M Competition trim outclasses the X7 with “only” the M50i version.

X6 vs X7 price comparison

BMW X6 is more affordable to buy, comparing the base model price of both cars. The difference is somewhere between 15 and 20 %. Nevertheless, X7 is much bigger and offers 2 seats more, if nothing else.
