Despite the fact that the classic mid-sized sedans are not among the most popular nowadays, Fiat sent the new sedan with the familiar name Fiat Tipo into a fight for additional customers.

Sales strategists of this Italian manufacturer may rely on the weight of the tradition and reputation that Fiat Tipo once had, although it was structurally quite different model. Five-door hatchback has in fact won many customers on the domestic Italian and many other European markets, the trophy room also includes the title Car of the year in 1989.

Roughly two decades after the end of production of today’s newcomer predecessor, Fiat Tipo presents a very different image. New Tipo is designed as a classic sedan and its constructors especially stress that they firstly designed the sedan deliberately, not paste its bodywork from hatchback or station wagon version.

New Fiat Tipo is an eye pleasing sedan

The external appearance is therefore without a doubt much more pleasing than some of the competitors “limousined” hatchbacks. In addition, Fiat Tipo brings a lot of content, which will invite more traditionally oriented buyers who are to purchase their means of transport primarily based on rationality and a little less with emotions.

Despite the fact that the Fiat Tipo is a sedan, it remains within the urban dimension with a length of 4.54 meters. In the cabin there is enough space for five passengers, the luggage compartment hidden in the rear part of the car can offer a capacity of 520 liters. By folding down the rear seats its overall capacity more than doubles, to 1,150 liters.

If we take a look on the range of equipment, at Fiat they obviously do not underestimate the rational buyers, since they offer an extensive and more or less mandatory set of safety and assistance systems. With three levels of equipment they leave a lot of room for manipulation of the type of tastes and financial capabilities of the individual buyer.

Fiat Tipo Sedan engines: one petrol and two diesel

The Fiat Tipo price range starts at around 12,000 euros (depending on the country), for which the customers will get the entry level model version with the 1.4-liter 16V engine and all the necessary equipment for a safe and comfortable ride. More demanding buyers can select two higher levels of equipment and two more powerful engines.

The main attributes of the before mentioned petrol engine with a maximum power 95 hp are durability and reliability, low fuel consumption, lower environmental burden and lower maintenance costs. Customers who prefer diesel engines can choose between 1.3-liter Multijet engine with the same power as the petrol engine (95 hp) and more powerful 1.6-liter Multijet with the power of 120 hp.

Tipo is currently only available as a sedan, but at the end it will probably be joined by the hatchback and station wagon version (possibly next year).
