The production line of Ford factory in Flat Rock, Michigan is very busy these days. Why? Because they started with the production of 2015 Ford Mustang, the sixth generation of this American cult car.

For the first time in the existence of this model Ford decided to offer him the opportunity to conquer the world and become a true global car from a market perspective. The new 2015 Mustang will be sold in more than 120 countries worldwide. The right hand traffic version adapted for driving on the left side of the road (like in Great Britain, Australia, Republic of South Africa and over 20 more countries) will also be available.

50 Years of Evolution

In 50 years of continuous production more than 9 million Mustangs have been made. However, the influence of this car surely outperforms bare production numbers.

This car played in few thousand roles in movies and television, marked the music industry and ruled the virtual world of video games. Mustang leaves its mark on the social networks. Its popularity in the communication networks is witnessed by the fact that it is one of the most adored cars on Facebook where it has nearly eight million likes.

On April 2014 Ford Mustang celebrated its 50th birthday. This milestone will be highlighted in all models for the year 2015 with a commemorative plate with the logo of a galloping horse, and the words “Mustang – Since 1964” on the dashboard.

The pleasure of driving matters most

Engineers have thoroughly prepared Mustang for the world market tour. In addition to the traditionally impressive appearance Ford’s first superstar now got adapted chassis, which features a completely new system of front and rear suspension.

To provide greater rigidity and at the same time achieve weight reduction they installed a new, lighter sub-frame in front of the car. It provides more foresight in the control of the car and consequently more accurate and reliable ride.

For better contact between the road the rear wheels the new independent suspension is installed. All parts are specially configured for dynamic driving through curves. Mustang apparently wants to satisfy European driving needs and desires also.

Muscle car or Ecologist

The new Mustang is also in line with today’s ecological guidelines of the automotive industry. He got smaller heart, supported by a supercharger. 2.3-liter petrol engine from the EcoBoost series, direct injection, variable valve timing and turbocharger is able to produce 228 kilowatts of power (310 PS) and 433 Nm of torque.

Fortunately the engineers did not forget about Mustangs roots of being an elite American muscle car. A classical V8 engine with a modernized set of valves, new manifold and cylinder heads will take care of that. This 5.0 liter machine will provide 320 kilowatts (435 PS) of total power and 542 Nm of torque.

Mustang’s birthplace: Flat Rock, Michigan

In 2013, nine years after the relocation of production to Flat Rock, Michigan, this factory produced its millionth Mustang.

Ford invested a total of 555 million dollars (or more than 421 million EUR) in the renovation of the production line. With this investment they provided a highly flexible production of car bodies which allows the creation of different models on the same line.

Among other technological characteristics of the plant in Flat Rock we can find the three-wet paint process, detection of impurities (dirt detection) and laser brazing.

The factory employs about three thousand workers which are working in two shifts when the production is at full speed.

Equipment meet expectations

The new Mustang is of course equipped with a wide variety of Ford’s add-ons that have been well accepted by the customers so far. These technologies are keeping the driver informed, providing additional control and connectivity – from Intelligent Access via SYNC and MYKEY, which will be available as standard, to Track Apps, additions to MyColor system and Shaker Pro audio of your own choice.

Ford Sync with voice control combined with 8 inch touch screen is responsible for the modern infotainment. There is also an audio device with 12 speakers and software which supports different regional navigation systems.

Noticeable arrival in Europe during the finals of the Champions League

The moment which all the European enthusiastic admirers of Ford Mustang waited for a very long time finally came during the UEFA Champions League final game on May 24th 2014 between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

Ford Motor Company started to collect reservations for the first 500 new Mustangs available in Europe at the beginning of the game. Potential buyers had time until the final whistle.

Ford is the official partner of the UEFA Champions League since 1992. This marketing action had great success. Match in Lisbon, Portugal, was watched by 70 million football fans in Europe and 165 million viewers worldwide.

Are you interested in how much time it took to receive the first 500 reservations? Exactly 30 seconds. By the end of the match they received another 9,300 wishes to book new Ford Mustang but they were unfortunately all too late. But it is a clear signal that Ford should not be afraid of the success of the new Mustang in Europe.

The detailed price list for 2015 Ford Mustang in Europe is not available yet, it is expected to start at around 37,000 EUR (or 30,000 GBP or 50,000 USD).
